Senior Data Architect Space (m/f/d)
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and manage data architecture for space programs
- Develop models and structures (Data Vault, Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse) for large, heterogeneous data (telemetry, sensor, metadata)
- Integrate data sources (satellites, ground stations) and implement interfaces (REST, gRPC, MQTT, CCSDS)
- Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and compliance with ESA/ECSS standards
- Implement real-time processing with Kafka, RabbitMQ and Big Data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Flink)
- Ensure scalability and performance in hybrid/multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, ESA Cloud, GAIA-X) and on-prem setups
- Define access policies with encryption, auditing, and cybersecurity frameworks
- Support containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, Argo)
- Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to align with mission requirements
Profile
- Degree in computer science, data science, or related field
- Solid experience in data architecture, engineering, and management
- Experience in building and optimizing data architecture from scratch
- Space industry experience is an advantage, while familiarity with Dev(Sec)Ops is a must-have for this role (regardless of industry background)
- Strong skills in real-time data processing, ETL/ELT, and interface design
- Expertise in data governance, metadata standards (ISO 19115, OGC), and security frameworks
- Experience with cloud/on-prem architectures, containerization, and orchestration tools
- Business fluent English; German is a advantage
